Gudhi Padva / Cheti Chand / Ugadi - 31st March 2014

Gudhi Padva / Cheti Chand / Ugadi is the first day of beginning of the New Year according to the lunisolar Hindu calendar. On the festive day, people take the time out to do some spring cleaning. Women and children work on intricate rangoli designs on their doorsteps, the vibrant colours mirroring the burst of colour associated with spring. It is a time for family gatherings!!!

Please note that the SI Office will remain closed on this day, hence reply to the mails may get delayed. Sorry for the inconvenience!!

Baby Shower at SI

Baby shower was celebrated at SI for one of the surrogate mothers by the IP’s relative.

Surrogate was given fruits, coconuts, sweets and a sari as a token of appreciation.

Basically it is done to welcome the unborn baby to the family and bless the mother-to-be with abundant joys of motherhood. In Hindi, it is called as godh bharai literally means to 'fill the lap' with abundance.
