Infertile Americans Go to India for Gestational Surrogates

Dr. Sudhir Ajja, co-founder of Surrogacy India, the Mumbai clinic where the Wiles' children were conceived and delivered, said about 95 percent of his clients are international -- 30 to 40 percent Americans, followed by Australians and Swedes. His clinic, founded in 2007, delivers about 302 babies a year, averaging 15 to 20 new pregnancies a month.

Pot Lunch

Team SI had a Pot Lunch today and it was organized basically to get an opportunity for everyone to eat a special food from other’s plate. Menu has been chosen by the employees itself.

As soon as the food was arranged on the table, the entire team started gorging from other’s plate. It was complete fun for all of us but somewhere we were missing Dr. Yashodhara and Dr.Sudhir. If they would have been here we would had much more fun.

Ministries differ on single surrogacy

CHANDIGARH: It appears the ministry of health and family welfare and the ministry of home affairs (MHA) are not on the same page over the issue of singles opting for surrogacy in the country.

Happy Diwali

On the occasion of Diwali, SI will remain closed on 2nd & 5th November, hence reply to the mails may get delayed.

This is the very first time that Dr. Yashodhara & Dr. Sudhir are away on the occasion of Diwali. We miss them a lot.  

However, both the doctors before heading for USA ensured that Diwali will be celebrated in a same manner as it was celebrated in past. Dr. Yashodhara as usual gave beautiful ideas on how to decorate the office & here are few pictures….

Dr. Yashodhara and Dr. Sudhir distributed sweets to the staff and wished each one Happy Diwali. Sweets and gifts were also distributed to the surrogates and their care takers.

We wish everyone a Happy Diwali !!!        

No more tourist visa for commissioning surrogacy in India: Home Ministry

Foreign nationals intending to visit India for commissioning surrogacy will not be allowed  to come on a tourist visa from Friday with the Home Ministry ordering strict adherence of surrogacy laws.

In an order, the Home Ministry said several instances of foreign nationals visiting India on tourist visa for commissioning surrogacy have been reported and no such relaxation would be allowed after November 1. "This is (tourist visa) not the appropriate visa category and such foreigners will be liable for action for violation of visa conditions. The appropriate visa category will be a medical visa," the order said.

The Ministry said it is also necessary in such cases to ensure that the surrogate mother is not cheated and therefore, such a visa may only be granted if certain conditions are fulfilled. The conditions include that the foreign man and woman are duly married and the marriage should have  sustained at least for two years.
