SurrogacyIndia’s focus is in fertility, not infertility. Making babies, is possible. ‘Possible’ is what we believe in.

I want two surrogates!.... But is it legal?

We at SurrogacyIndia often receive queries stating that couple wish to have two surrogates at the same time. Logically, it is as good as two attempts (two transfers, with two sets of embryos). In other words: doubling your chances.

Then why don't we give two surrogates? We get criticized for not being able to provide them two surrogates unlike many other clinics.

Let me now please refer to the below excerpt from "THE ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGIES (REGULATION) BILL - 2010", the Bible for Surrogacy in India.
CHAPTER - VII
RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF PATIENTS, DONORS, SURROGATES AND CHILDREN

34. Rights and duties in relation to surrogacy –
(20) A couple or an individual shall not have the  service of more than one surrogate at any given time.

(21) A couple shall not have simultaneous transfer of embryos in the woman and in a surrogate.

We refer this section to our patients and get to hear that it is not a law yet and we should not be so strict about it. To all our friends and readers, it was only because of the ICMR GUIDELINE and now called ART BILL, surrogacy practice was ever allowed in this largest democratic country. If this guideline had not come out, Surrogacy would had never been practised in India. SIMPLE.

Our question: Then why certain sections of the clauses are avoided and not followed? If all of us followed the ART Bill, then there is no need of enactment. It is only because few of us make such exceptions, the Govt decides to make it into a Law and legal.

We do understand that it is a Win - Win (lucrative for any clinic to offer 2-3 surrogates and there by increasing chances exponentially for a couple to get pregnant.
But then it is not what the ART BILL says. We follow the Bill to the core.

Our viewThere are extremely less chances that any content of the Bill will change. It is ideal and ethical to stick to what is correct and right. The complications cannot be even anticipated with two nations being involved in the process.

Celebrating Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti is an important Hindu festival celebrated with religious fervor in almost all parts of India. It is the first festival during which Haldi Kurnkum (Turmeric Powder and Saffron) meets are organised. Til Gul (Sesame-Jaggery sweet) is prepared and exchanged on the day.

Our SI team has organised a get-together with the Surrogates. They exchanged sweets and greet each other with a thought “accept these sweets and speak sweet words”. The main reasons for exchanging sweets are to forget any past hard and harsh feelings and to start afresh!!

They were beautifully dressed and enjoyed the day.

DIVA DONORS

Today’s young generation is very smart and independent. They are intelligent, courageous and at the same time some of them do care for society and at times they are ready to help them if they need to. For e.g. SI Diva donors. We are very much proud of them and we are incomplete without their receptive approach.

Diva donors are ready to pass on their genetic trait to your baby so that your dream is fulfilled and at the same time they are benefited from you to fulfill their dreams of aspiring milestone in their life.

They are intelligent, highly educated, ambitious, caring, well mannered, well behaved, moralistic and elite group of egg donors.

They do not want to depend on any one and at the same time they do not want to do any malpractice to achieve their goals. Egg donation being such a noble work is one of the ways they feel they can spread happiness in people’s lives at the same time by doing this dignified work their own dream is also fulfilled.

We have many such diva donors with colorful personalities. Everyone is having their own ways of looking at life; however the common thing among them is their positive attitude towards life, their helpful nature, they are genuine and of course they are women of the substance.

Nevertheless to say that they strongly feel your blessing will always be with them and with your blessing they can conquer anything in the world.

Thank You Andreas and John

We thank Andreas and John's efforts in helping broadcast their Surrogacy journey on the Swedish Television.  They have a beautiful baby girl Alice through SurrogacyIndia, in June 2011.

When they were here in India for their daughter’s birth, they shot some videos with the help of Sweden TV team and these films are now being aired on Swedish Television every week. The successful signing of the Swedish clients is the direct result of this show.

We have heard that the program is gaining popularity in Sweden and it is raising awareness on surrogacy. It is with great thanks we write that we have received overwhelming response from Sweden who are wishing to opt for surrogacy.

This show has helped reveal the world SurrogacyIndia's ethical and patient driven processes. Once again, we thank Andreas and John for their immense efforts and helping SurrogacyIndia to become the leading surrogacy agency in Sweden.

Bhai Dooj at SI

The festival of Bhai Dooj is celebrated by Hindus. It falls on second day after Diwali. This year it came on 28th October, 2011. Bhai Dooj makes us understand the importance of family and is especially dedicated to the sibling relationship. It also imbibes in us the feelings of caring and responsibility towards our near and dear ones. Same such feelings we have towards our surrogates. Dr Sudhir Ajja treats all the surrogates like his own sisters, which is one of the reasons that all our surrogates are emotionally bonded with him.

One of our surrogates celebrating bhai dooj with Dr Sudhir. She decorated the puja thali with sweets, kumkum, rice, diya and the most important of all, coconut. She applied tikka on his forehead and presents him a coconut and some sweets. He in return blessed and wished her.

Team SI wishes all our surrogates a “Happy Bhai Dhooj

                               Diwali Lunch

On Friday the 21st October,2011 Dr. Yash & Dr. Sudhir took us out for diwali lunch. We all went at Powai at Red Olives for Diwali lunch and enjoyed it a lot. The food was delicious. We ate different types of chicken, fish and paneer (cottage cheese) starters followed by Chicken peanut curry, manglorian prawns curry, mrich ka murga (spicy chicken), and dum biryani. Then for dessert, we ordered brownie with ice-cream, kulfi, kulfi falooda, strawberry ice-cream and cheese cake. We really enjoyed it a lot, we cracked jokes and laughed a lot and had a good time together. We are thankful to Dr. Yash & Dr. Sudhir who give us such an opportunity to enjoy and have fun.

                       Diwali celebration at SI

The name 'Diwali' is from the Sanskrit word 'dipavali', which means 'row of lamps'. Diwali is the festival is to mark the return of Rama to Ayodhya after his victory over Ravana, an epic story of Ramayana. To celebrate Ram’s victory, lamps are lit in every house to banish the dark and welcome in good luck and good fortune. Diwali is a festival of light, joy, prosperity and good luck which usually falls sometime at the end of October or in the beginning of November.
Diwali is a festival which we all long for every year and Team SI works in a very professional manner and is the best when it comes to fun and any celebrations.
We all decided to give a personal touch to this diwali and decided to prepare handmade greeting cards, so we bought handmade papers with different colors. We gave the material to our surrogates. They were very excited to prepare special handmade cards as these cards are for their different doctors whom they routinely meet for their follow up; they have developed a sweet bond with them as well.
We were very apprehensive how the cards will look like, but when they prepared it, we were amazed. They did a fantastic job!!!! So finally the cards were ready! Now we wanted to search a gift and finally selected a tray with 2 round boxes manually decorated by golden beads. The boxes were filled by chocolates and wrapped the gifts with colorful marble paper and tied by a satin ribbon. After wrapping it looked the perfect gift. It was then distributed with the special greeting card to all our associates.
Now, at the moment, we all are getting decorations for our office and SI hospital. Boys are getting beautiful lanterns and ribbons to decorate the walls and ceilings while girls are busy in getting different color rangolis to put in front of the office door. The preparations are still going on and we are just enjoying it.
On Diwali days, we all have planned to wear new clothes, probably Indian ethic wear, salwar suit or saree and boys will wear kurta or chudidar. We will hold a small prayer or puja in our office to honor the Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom and good luck, the one who removes all obstacles from life; and we will also worship Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and good fortune. Lights will be left burning all night, so that good luck and good fortune may feel welcome and enter.

Thank Goodness SI was on this journey with u........

2 years on……

We are sitting down happily exhausted. It is 7.30pm and our 7 month old twins have gone to sleep for the night. They are all we dreamt and more. We feel blessed every day; we thank SI through our prayers every day.

Our dream of children began over 10 years ago. Like many people battling to have children there was the inevitable process of fertility treatments - AIH, IVF, miscarriages, grief and sadness over many years and so attempts. We had applied for adoption but due to our age and the processes in Australia we knew that we may never achieve our dream of bringing up a child. The emotional and financial costs were astronomical and we thought it was the end of the road for us.

In June 2009 we watched a program on international surrogacy. It was the first we had heard of it. We began to investigate options.  It was clear from the first contact that SI was the company that we would go through. We were given information upfront including costs and the process. They were ethical and treated the amazing surrogate mothers very well.

SI was responsive and compassionate and ever so patient with all of our questions. By September 2009 we were in Mumbai nervous and excited. We got to our hotel room to find flowers and a note from the doctors welcoming us.  It was touches like this that humanised the fertility process.
The process was nerve wracking and there was no magic formula. We had three surrogates and two donors and two very sad early miscarriages before we fell with our babies.

It is a journey-an emotional and difficult journey
Thank Goodness SI was on this journey with us

The compassion and care the SI team gave us through the process gave us strength in the grief and the hope to continue. They advised us to wait and grieve before going through it again. Parental well-being is important to them. You are seen and you are heard. They have a team dedicated to helping parents achieve their dream of children. In February 2011 we achieved a double dream – our daughter and son came into this world. The moment we held them it felt like home and peace descended on us and we breathed for the first time in a decade. SI were there to celebrate with us.

They are sleeping soundly now after a big day. We kiss them goodnight and say a prayer for them. We then say a prayer for SI and thank them and for all those who are going through the process. Stay the course; it might seem like an eternity but everything that has gone before disappears once your children are here.  Believe.

Completion of Surrogacy Journey with some sweet memories .....

It was really a rare yet beautiful moment in SI Office to watch, when a Surrogate Mother presented the Intended Parents Swen & Hege who are from Norway with a beautiful and attractive shawl. The shawl was knitted by the surrogate mother herself, which made it more special. It got more emotional when the Surrogate Mother wrapped the baby with that before giving back the baby to the parents. We felt like it was the moment of completion of Circle of SURROGACY JOURNEY.

Multiple User Woolen Holder By SM for Dr Sudhir Ajja

This beautiful woollen stuff is knitted by our lovely surrogates. This is made out of wool, some decorative mirror chips and bangles. Imagine making use of bangles which is normally an accessory to women, they made an innovative use of bangles by using it as decorative item. They started working on this three days back. What comes more special is the fact that it was made for Dr Sudhir Ajja, to express their gratitude for the love and respect they got on Raksha Bandhan day.

Dr Sudhir Ajja was overwhelmed with this kind gesture from our surrogates. The pic only confirms how close a family SI is with their surrogates.

This special stand can be used to keep magazines, papers or even soft toys in it. We all at SI are so surprised to see such innovative things coming from Surrogates.  The best part is, other surrogates are now keen to learn and have started taking lessons from these surrogates. (ohhh... i can bet couples who recognised their surrogates, would be proud).

Surrogate Mothers celebrating Raksha Bandhan with Dr Sudhir & SI Staff

Dr Sudhir got a surprise when he came to know that few of our Surrogate Mothers wanted to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with him which is an Indian festival, where a sister ties a beautiful thread (which is called Rakhi) on her brother’s wrist and she gets a gift or anything in kind in exchange. This means that the brother takes the responsibility of protecting his sister from all difficulties that will come across her life.

Surrogate Mothers in SurrogacyIndia decided tie Rakhi to Dr Sudhir. It was really a emotional and beautiful moment for everyone. They were glad that they could celebrate this festival with Doctor. So now we can say that Dr Sudhir is not just Doctor now he is also a brother for them.

They also celebrated with one of their favourite SI Staff Sachin Shingare.

WE CAPTURED FEW SUCH MOMENTS TO CHERISH .....

                                                                                                                    Team SI...
